This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Flexible seating options for special education classrooms are helpful for student learning. These desks will allow students to move groups easily within the different lessons we go through for ELA, math, social studies and science. It supports students during our independent work, one-to-one with a teacher, para or partner exercises, and group activities. Flexible seating meets daily student and classroom needs and breaks away from the traditional rigidness of standard desks. The adjustable options and ability to move the desks easily will also allow the students to use them ask a standing desks or attach flex bands if they need to fidget. It provides students with choices and also allows students to develop better ways to work collaboratively with their peers. These are essential skills we focus on with students in a self-contained classroom that help them outside in a natural real-world setting.
