My Students
I work with a group of highly motivated high school students. They attend a high-poverty high school. They work hard throughout the day to navigate the world of high school and advanced classes. After school, they come to me to demonstrate their knowledge and expertise for the school's Academic Team.
My students are highly competitive and strive to improve their skills.
They study and practice for academic competitions in addition to their regular course loads. They love learning and are hungry to expand their knowledge.
My Project
My students study hard to learn the information needed for academic team competitions. However, our practices do not reflect the atmosphere of competition because we do not have a buzzer system. We need a 10 player buzzer system so that students can practice buzzing in to answer questions. Without the buzzer students call out answers over the reader and it is difficult to hear the answers and determine which student provided the correct answer. The buzzer system will remove the guesswork by clearly signaling when a student is ready to answer.
The 10 player buzzer system will add the competitive edge that my students need to effectively prepare for competitions.
We will be able to use the buzzers as we practice. They will also be used at the competitions that we attend. Having our own buzzer system will add familiarity to the competition process since students will be able to use them on a regular basis before completing.
The addition of the buzzer system will allow my students to compete on the same level as academic teams from other schools. These resources will help prepare my students to be on an equal level as their peers.
