Our students are working every day to turn our school into an A school! We are taking innovative steps this year to give students more choice and ownership in their education, and are already seeing the dividends!
These students are already playing their instruments at an exceptional level due to their amazing work ethic and motivation!
They are the only 5th graders in the county to have a band program, and they are proving every day that they don't take this for granted.
Most of our students would not have the ability to rent or purchase an instrument on their own, so having a school program is a huge benefit for them. Many are already working on transferring directly to 7th grade band when they reach middle school. What an amazing jump start in a program that will help them academically and socially.
My Project
At Vero Beach Elementary, we are piloting a new 5th grade band program this year. We allowed students to choose their elective and have created the only 5th grade band program in our county. The school has raised all the money for the program so far, but our numbers are still small due to lack of instruments. We are looking to get a new flute with this project.
We've worked hard to secure instruments for this new program, but would really like to provide more students with this wonderful opportunity.
Your help would be deeply appreciated. These students are extremely motivated, hard-working, and excited to make music! The band's progress after only 2 months of playing has been astounding, and word is spreading quickly. We have so many requests from more students wanting to join, but simply don't have enough instruments to accommodate them.
