My Project
I have the most amazing 4th grade students for science and math each day. I have two classes each day of science and two classes for math. My students love science and want to do well in science. They love the hands on part of the science curriculum such as horse shoe crabs, fish, ants, bugs, rocks, and soil. However, with all these hands on experiments comes lots and lots of supplies that need to be stored. When given the supplies, my district was generous with what they have given me, but the supplies does not come in a way that we can store it to be used. All the tools and supplies need to be sorted and organized into units and categories to make it easy for the students to use the materials. For example, if my students want a magnifying glass, we have to sort through many boxes to find the ones that have the magnifying glasses which is time consuming to do spontaneously.
I want my students to really develop a love for science and doing experiments by having cabinets with storage that they know where things go so that independently they can go to a drawer or cabinet and know exactly where the materials are and get what they need when they need it.
This cabinet will be an organizational haven for my budding scientists so that they can grow as science students and develop a love of science in the age when science is more important then ever. This storage cabinet will be on wheels so students can wheel it to their work stations and really be independent in their science thinking.
The first one made a huge difference, and this one will complete the project.
