Help me give my students a comfortable, organized room with places to store extra work, a few extra supplies to get us through the rest of the semester, and hall passes as my homemade ones have fallen apart.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have a wonderful, active group who love to read, create, and dance! One of our favorite things to do is go to the action based learning lab, where they get to participate in plyometrics, yoga, and hand-eye coordination type excercise before going back to our classroom and getting smarter about everything. Many of my students are reading above their grade level, and I will need a few books, supplies, and organizational tools to help these students grow in all areas this year.
My Project
I like these rolling carts as they will provide storage for our supplies for crafts and science, and all the paperwork I have to juggle throughout planning for my week. There is also a bookshelf on my list. I am a first year teacher so I am low on furniture, but one of the most important things I still need to build in my classroom is a library! This will hold all the books I am hoping to get in my next project. I chose a large amount of pencils as many of my first graders are still learning how to write and how to use pencils; it is especially important to me to keep nice sized pencils around for their little hands to properly hold. In the beginning of the year I used my craft skills to make some pretty cute hall passes out of foam and ribbon - it was a bad idea! My hall passes have been ripped apart and stapled back together too many times to count and I am hoping these will hold up a bit longer.
