Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I will be a third year teacher at a public school in Chicago. For the past two years, I have taught first grade, and next year I will be looping with my kids to second grade! My school is in a high-need community, in which there are many deficits the school is working hard to overcome. My kids are incredible, bright, and eager to learn, which motivates me to work hard to give them the best education possible!
Since the community is a high-need / low socio-economic community, I am not able to ask parents to supply their children with the appropriate materials needed to enhance and enrich their education. My students absolutely love to read! Because of this, I applied to and was awarded a literacy grant that will give me $500 to buy books. However, I need a place to store these books!
I would love to get the bookshelf that will fit perfectly in my classroom. My classroom is not huge, and wall space is valuable, but limited! This bookshelf will fit perfectly under my bulletin board or chalkboard. Having a bookshelf as well as the uniform book bins will allow me to store my books in an organized way so that my kids can access them easily.
Your help in getting these supplies will ensure my kids have a better chance at getting the high-quality education they deserve!
