My Students

I have the best students! They really are amazing and will be the leaders, researchers, scientists, engineers, etc. of our future. At our early college high school program, students are taking honors/advanced high school courses and college classes during their sophomore through senior year. These students have adapted to the challenges of learning during the pandemic. They've been diligent in being active during remote learning days and watching the class lessons when they've been too sick to attend classes. Chromebooks have given students technology access to the classroom no matter the circumstances but for math, having access to the same graphing technology as they have in the classroom is important.

My Project

With the current financial status of lots of families, I have less students than ever with their own graphing calculators at home. We have a classroom set of calculators that students use while at school; but when students are sick or in quarantine- they lose access to that technology (as I don't have enough in my classroom set to loan out individually and still have enough for the students attending classes on those days).

Students in my classroom are in Advanced, Honors, and Concurrent Enrollment classes and for some of these classes, graphing technology is needed for learning and understanding some of the concepts/skills.

As students watch lessons from home (either live or a recorded version), they would be able to have access to the same classroom technology that they are used to using and help be able to "keep up" with learning during those times instead of having to play catch up when they return to school.

Having a set of calculators to loan out to students on a temporary basis would be extremely impactful for my students and keep them learning and engaged while away from the classroom.
