Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Math is a tough subject for most students. My students, and most the students in my school, are no exception. Most students need a way to connect with the math without the intimidation. Most of them are very tech savvy, so technology is usually the way to get them to enjoy the math they are learning (or at least find it bearable).
These kids are very hungry for knowledge, but because math is a subject that hasn't been too friendly with them (and most times not friendly with their family members) they do not realize how hungry for math knowledge they are.
Our community is hard-working but low in income. The kids' hearts are huge, but their resources are few. These kids deserve to have the same resources that other communities have.
My Project
When the stay at home order began in March and we started to teach online, students would have to endure zoom meetings where the sound and video were very poor. Using the laptop provided by my school, the microphone and webcam on the laptop are not very good.
In order for the students to be engaged in a virtual lesson, they have to have a clear video and clear sound in order for them to understand what is being explained or taught, and also so they can feel a little bit closer to what they would have in an actual classroom.
This lens will help the students see what I have a screen a lot better.
