it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a P.E. teacher that is heavily involved in my school's after-school sports program, I interact with many student-athletes who play a variety of different sports, including basketball. My students thrive in our basketball program as many of them are participating in for the first time, learning how to be a team player, and understanding what positive sportsmanship looks like. These experiences teach them lifelong skills that they can utilize to become contributing citizens in their community.
I teach at a Title I School in Nevada in which a high percentage of my students come from bilingual homes and all students receive free lunch.
My students often face tough obstacles in their lives but arrive to school smiling and ready to learn. They love their teachers and they adore their principal. Our school truly is a community – a family. We each do our part, as student and teacher work side by side with one mission in mind: our students’ success. We help the students set their goals high and we strive to help them achieve those goals.
My Project
We are frequently seeking to increase our basketball equipment inventory in order to help our teams have the best practice experience possible. We know that if every student-athlete can have a basketball during practice, they will progress and improve more rapidly. However, our challenge comes from having adequate capability to securely store our school's basketballs. We are often required to leave the basketballs in the original box because we don't have the means to inflate and store them in their game-ready state. Storage carts would provide a means to securely store basketballs while allowing our team to increase their inventory.
Without storage carts to house game-ready basketballs, our after-school basketball teams cannot have adequate equipment for daily practices.
These storage carts are essential to our practice efficiency as it will allow maximum participation from the student-athletes while supplying a secure location to prevent loss of equipment. Our school continues to grow and interest in our basketball program is growing too. These simple carts will immediately be put to use and remain useful for years to come. Your donation will have a long-lasting impact on our sports program and help with the development of hundreds of student-athletes.
