This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My Students
Historical fiction in an amazing way to help students think critically about the interconnectedness of humanity across time and space!
My students are part of a GATE interdisciplinary program than emphasizes the importance of humanities in preparing them for the demands of life, career, and college. They come from diverse cultural, religious, and linguistic backgrounds. My middle schoolers are just starting to figure out who they are and what is important to them! Grappling with historical social and cultural issues are a wonderful way to support their journeys to adulthood!
My Project
Access to quality literature in an exceptional way to expose students to different ideas and perspectives. The books that your donations will place in their hands will become an invaluable tool for thought-provoking discussion, deep analysis, and numerous writing experiences as they work in small groups to identify universal themes of self-discovery, heroism, and courage.
Reading and analyzing the literature that your donations provide will not only foster a deeper sense of empathy for their fellow students, it will also give them a deeper understanding of themselves.
Students will be encouraged and even excited to write about the new ideas and perspectives they have been given the opportunity to ponder through literature.
