My students need lower level fantasy books for struggling readers. With these titles, I am sure that my students will have no choice but to become more interested in the wonderful world of fantasy.

My Students
We just started a new fantasy unit at school. The problem is, most of my students don’t read fantasy. Most of my students think fantasy is mostly about books like Harry Potter and the Hunger Games, and they are intimidated. I have three classes filled with English language learners, special needs kids, and struggling students who read below grade level. The majority of my students think fantasy is about big, thick, books that are way too complicated.
They don’t know how much fun fantasy can be.
They don’t know that fantasy opens the mind and makes readers more creative. A lot of them don’t know what is like to lose your self in a world that is nothing like Earth. My students need more access to low-level fantasy books. They don’t read a lot of fantasy because most fantasy books are written for students who read at a higher grade level. My students need low-level fantasy that they can read and comprehend on their own. Please help me show them that fantasy can be fun!
My Project
Help My Students read more fantasy!
We just started a new fantasy unit at my school.
But the problem is a lot of my students don’t read fantasy. Lots of my students are intimidated by fantasy. A lot of the fantasy books are inaccessible to them because they read below grade level, or they are new to reading in general, since they are learning English as a second language.
Kids need to be able to have access to fantasy books so they can learn to imagine a world that is different from their own. Fantasy also help readers and writers be more creative and look at things from a different point of view. My students need more low-level fantasy books.
My school has a budget for obtaining new books for the year, but unfortunately, most of them are not at the level that my kids can read (yet). Harry Potter is awesome but the fact is, most of my students can’t read books on that level. Please help me give my students access to more fantasy books that they can read on their own.
