My Students

Many of our students are ELL learners who struggle with the English language. Our school takes pride in making sure that our students get the best support that they need to succeed in school. Patience, kindness, and compassion are key to their success.

Our ELL population is very diverse.

Our Students have emigrated from Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, China, Burma, India, Brazil, a variety of African countries, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. Their families immigrated to this country but the degree of English language spoken at home is limited and students miss opportunities to work with the English language. With the variety of countries, our students and their families hail from comes a variety of languages spoken in their homes.

As varied as the countries our students come from and the languages they speak, the families of our ELL students have even more variety in their experiences of coming to America. They have left refugee camps. They leave because of the opportunity America provides and the promise of a solid education. Middle school students are a resilient lot and do not always speak about nor show the details of what they have been through.

My Project

My students have been working extremely hard remotely for all but 3 weeks of the school year. They need new school supplies to continue working successfully at home. Whether in the classroom or from home, learning essentials will always be essential.

During these challenging times, many of our families are struggling.

They cannot afford to purchase school supplies. Their materials are as tired as they are working remotely. My students will be excited, more productive, and successful to receive these new supplies so that they can continue working hard remotely.
