My Students

My second graders are bright, enthusiastic learners. We start each day with a smile and get right to work. We are lucky to have a district and principal who value technology and see the importance and benefits of using it at school.

As in any classroom, my students display a wide range of abilities.

I want to keep them engaged at their individual levels, but it can be difficult, especially for my advanced students. With the right technology, I can push them to go beyond the regular assignments and increase their knowledge and critical thinking skills.

I am taking classes for my technology endorsement, and I am learning a variety of ways to integrate what I've learned into my daily lessons. I have seen that when I include technology in my lessons, my students’ engagement level increases tremendously.

My Project

I am very lucky to have ChromeBooks for each of my students. This technology allows them to use programs like Lexia, iReady, and Reflex Math to supplement and enhance their learning. They also use ChromeBooks for all of their math and language arts tests. Having my students be able to listen to these programs is crucial to their success.

Having noise-canceling headphones would allow my students to hear their programs clearly, and they would be less likely to get distracted.

The headphones are made for children and would be comfortable on their little heads. I could use these headphones year after year for my students.

We have tried using earbuds but have run into a variety of problems. To begin with, earbuds just don't fit their ears correctly. They constantly fall out, and my students get frustrated and don't use them at all. Secondly, no matter how careful my students are, their earbuds get tangled. They waste precious learning time trying to fix them. Lastly, the earbuds frequently break and can't be used at all. Headphones would solve all of these problems.
