I plan to use the iPads to increase science comprehension in areas such as life cycles, outer space, and weather. Students will work together in cooperative learning groups to make a presentation of the concept we are studying. They will collaboratively write and publish it, using visuals and narration. They will use the iPads, with protective cases, and the an app to film their lesson. Finally, they will share it with the class, which should boost their self esteem and increase comprehension for all students. One of our science standards in second grade is for students to communicate effectively using science language and reasoning. Having iPads will give my students a hands-on opportunity to communicate with others and to show a higher depth of knowledge. Not only will it help their science comprehension, it will also advance their technology skills, which is a necessary part of their future.
