I am honored to teach at one of the finest high schools in the state of Nevada, and to have some of the best students coming from a variety of backgrounds. As a magnet school, all of my students apply to be here and choose our school, often due to the fact that we provide training beyond just English and Arithmetic, the 'core' subjects. We also provide career and technical education to help our students succeed in the future. We have a 100% graduation rate! Far higher than the districts average, because every team member of my school comes together and truly cares about them. Our students know that. But relationships can only go so far.
My Project
I'm migrating my classroom to be 100% digital! That means no paper! This is better for the environment, my school's budget, and the kids. Nowadays, offices are moving far from paper. Everything is becoming digitized. My kids need to learn to be organized and efficient with their research, writing, and production.
These chromebooks will do that, teaching them to use computers at the same time they are learning about history.
They will be learning two skills at once, making them more college and career ready and allowing us to break away from traditional, repetitive essays. Now kids can create websites and show me mastery of history.
