My Project
Hello everyone! My name is Ms. J., and I’m a second-grade teacher. One of my greatest passions as an educator is building my students up as confident, joyful readers.
In my 8+ years of teaching, I’ve learned that the right books can transform a reluctant reader into an eager one.
Lately, graphic novels have completely captured the interest of my students—and even those from past years. Wanting to fuel that enthusiasm, I personally purchased the entire Diary of a Wimpy Kid series for our classroom. It was a huge hit! But now, I need help expanding our collection to meet the growing demand.
This year, we’re also implementing an exciting new AI reading program called Amira. Amira acts as a virtual reading coach, listening to students read aloud and giving personalized feedback to help them strengthen their fluency, comprehension, and overall literacy skills. To make the most of this powerful tool, students need access to books they love and the right technology to use it effectively.
That’s why this project isn’t just about books—we also need new headsets with built-in microphones. These headsets will allow students to read aloud to Amira clearly, without distractions, so they can benefit fully from her real-time support.
Right now, students are not only lining up for our limited supply of graphic novels, but we’re also lacking enough high-quality headsets to support everyone’s learning. With your support, we can expand our graphic novel collection and provide the tools our students need to grow into strong, confident readers.
