My Students
My students are a diverse group of learners with a variety of needs. They bring many interests and skill levels to the classroom and I am constantly trying to innovate to make sure all learning needs are being met.
My school is located on the Lower East Side of Manhattan and we are a public, unscreened school.
This means we do not discriminate or screen based on prior test scores or GPAs. My students are incredibly energetic, passionate and full of curiosity. I feel honored to get to work with them each day!
My Project
My students are diverse, vibrant and curious. They have varied reading abilities as well as interests. It is very important to me to offer them a variety of choices when it comes to independent reading books.
When students have new, exciting releases available to them, they feel like books are special.
Watching students unplug from their screens and fall in love with reading, sometimes for the first time, is a real gift.
However, to keep my library current and appealing, I need your help to stock the shelves with new releases of varying genres.
Students will reading independently for short periods of time in class reading, but will do the bulk of their reading at home or on the train (like true New Yorkers!).
At the end of the unit, students will review their books in various forms (slideshows, in person book talks and YouTube book reviews).
