Help My Students Explore the World Beyond Our Classroom
My students need a Google Expeditions Kit with 10 student devices, a teacher device, a rapid charger, storage cart and wireless adapter to allow them to use Expeditions to view different environments and curated content.

My Students
I teach 103 students in a suburban setting in Central Virginia that houses approximately 1,000 students. Approximately 25% of the student population at our school receives free and reduced lunch.
My students are innovative thinkers whose potential is just waiting to be realized.
My goal this year was to mold my classroom instruction to fit the diverse learning needs of my class through the use of Google Apps for Education and to make Life Science more interesting by giving them the opportunity to see the diversity of life up close through virtual reality equipment.
My Project
My goal this year was to mold my classroom instruction to fit the diverse learning needs of my class through the use of Google Apps for Education and to make Life Science more interesting by giving them the opportunity to see the diversity of life up close through virtual reality equipment.
Google Expeditions will afford my World Cultures and Life Science students to examine the diversity of life and will help them gain a deeper understanding of the world.
By having these devices, we would be able to explore and learn about the different land and aquatic biomes first-hand without leaving the classroom. Students would have the ability to interact with the different environments while simultaneously listening as I lead their field trip. Students would also be able to interact with cells and learn more about their features and functions within the human body.
The benefits of VR instruction are simple. Students are more engaged and can interact more with the material than a 2-D image or a documentary. Some things are more exciting to students when they feel they are experiencing it themselves. Having Google Expeditions will provide students with a deeper understanding of the content that we cover throughout the year to include cells, ecology, scientific method, heredity, classification, and human impact on Earth. Another benefit to this technology is that the expeditions are led by a teacher so the teacher can monitor students as they use the technology and help students understand what it is that they are seeing.
I know that I am asking a lot but I hope you will help me bring this technology to my classroom and help my students see beyond these 4 walls! Thank you!
