Have you ever been so distracted that it was difficult to pay attention to something you are reading? ... Of course you have! Who hasn't right? So who can blame that seven year old that is sitting in class for doing the same thing, especially in this fast pace, technologically saturated society.
My students are second graders from NY.
This year my classroom will be a CTT classroom with multiple students who have Individualized Education Plans. It is essential, at this point in time, that all classrooms have access to as much technology as possible. Some students do not have access to books, let alone computers or other recent technologies once they leave the classroom. So it is even more detrimental to my students' success that they be exposed to as much literacy and technology as possible during the school day. Kindle Fire will help the students in both of these departments.
Being able to use Kindle Fires in the classroom will serve as a great tool to help motivate students to want read and become better readers. I will be able to use the Kindle Fires during one to one instruction and as incentives to help promote a positive learning environment. Not only will students be able to explore the wonderful world of books through a very current medium, they will also be able to work on skills that are new or difficult through other relevant apps that are downloadable on Kindle Fires. These apps include both literacy and mathematical concepts that students will be learning. The Kindle Fires will also be helpful to use as students start to learn how to do research. It creates a very interactive way of learning, which will be so beneficial for all students in my classroom.
Please help me to open the doors of technology and literacy to students who may otherwise not have the chance to explore such technologies.
You can do so by funding this project for 2 Kindle Fires. Thank you very much!
