This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a 2nd grade teacher in a high needs, low income, Title I school. Our students are primarily English Language Learners. Our school is 70% ELL and 100% free lunch/breakfast for all students.
I have an incredible group of 26 students who have so much potential in them- Each and every one of my students have gained a place in my heart, they're such kindhearted, noble, and passionate individuals.
Every day these students walk into the classroom eager to learn and ready to face any challenge that's put in front of them. These kids spend long hours at school every day and yet, every single day they're excited to be here and ready to take on whatever is put in front of them. It truly amazes me how determined and dedicated these young minds of theirs are.
My Project
I am a new teacher I do not have an extensive library for my children to choose from. My students' Accelerated Reader (AR) levels range and I would like to give them a variety of book choices at their individual level. This project will play a huge role in giving our students more opportunities to enjoy great books by awesome authors. These books will allow students greater access to literature which peaks their interests.
With your help, the more books available for us to read, the more we will be able to explore different worlds and expand our thinking.
I am wanting to grow their love of reading not hinder it due to a lack of reading sources at their level. Each one of them holds their own unique personalities and interests. However, they all have one thing in common, that is their love for reading.
