Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Students in my class have a wide range of disabilities including Autism, intellectual disabilities, and physical disabilities. Many come from low-income backgrounds, non-traditional families, foster homes, or group homes. Despite the many challenges they face in their lives, they are some of the most positive, friendly, and respectful students on campus.
The majority of my students love coming to school.
They rush to class each day and greet me warmly as soon as they enter the classroom. These students are helpful, kind, and compassionate individuals. Each of my students has their own unique set of special needs, but they are all hard workers with big dreams for their future.
My Project
My students will use these shredders to destroy confidential documents containing sensitive personal information. In an educational environment, piles of these documents are produced every day and staff members across our campus entrust my students with the important task of disposing of them responsibly.
My students will use these shredders to serve others while developing office skills that they can use in a workplace setting.
They are proud to perform this important task and love being able to help others around campus. This job is an important element of my career exploration class, as it provides my students with the opportunity to gain work experience, develop their social skills, and build confidence in their abilities.
