Help My Readers Succeed as They Loop to Grade 3!

My students need a new and improved library that will foster their love and excitement for reading as we loop to third grade! These new books will challenge my readers as they advance to new levels!

My Students

I have a group of 20 enthusiastic second graders who are in love with learning and reading. I work at the only STEAM elementary school in our town in Massachusetts. As a growing STEAM school, we are always in need of learning resources. My students have a wide range of learning needs and strengths. Next year, I will be looping with my class to third grade!

Looping is a researched-based strategy that has numerous benefits for students.

Research shows that looping allows the teacher to strengthen relationships with students and families, improves the teacher's understanding of the students' needs and learning styles, and has behavior management benefits.

My Project

As I loop with my students from second to third grade, I want to ensure that I have books that will meet their needs as they advance as readers. This year, my second graders have grown to love reading. Let me tell you, there is nothing more magical than watching students fall in love with reading! I've enjoyed watching my students read each book in my library from cover to cover.

In order to foster this love of reading, I want to improve my library by adding new books, book storage, and shelves!

I want next year to be filled with new and exciting experiences, and the best place to start is our classroom library!
