My sweet students are just discovering their love for reading. Watching them grow as readers is inspiring!
I teach 44 of the brightest kindergarteners in Oklahoma.
My amazing students are beginning readers. They are very eager to learn new things and are always wanting to try to read new books. My students love school and love to read new and exciting titles. We currently work in guided reading groups, trying to increase their reading fluency and comprehension skills.
My Project
My students are so excited about books. We check out library books several times a week; however, I want my students to have more confidence in their own reading ability. Many of them are recognizing sight words and they are beginning to learn letter sounds. We really need sight readers, leveled readers and emergent readers so my students can read books at their ability level. We will use the storage bins for organizing the books.
This project is important to me because seeing the excitement on a child's face when they discover that they are a reader is priceless!
I want to be able to use a variety of materials in my classroom to get my students reading. I want them to enjoy reading and to be able to feel successful while reading.
