My Students

My 4th graders attend a collaborative, diverse, and creative public school in Brooklyn, NY. We teach our students to be intellectually curious learners, socially responsible citizens, and dynamic problem solvers.

This is my first year teaching 4th grade, and I want to set my students up for success, both academic and social/emotional!

In order for my students to be as successful, motivated, and engaged as possible, I want to create a comfortable, accessible, and organized environment in which they can explore, create, and challenge themselves.

My Project

My fourth graders need a comfortable, organized, and inspiring place in which to learn and grow. They're entering upper elementary and with that transition comes higher expectations of rigor, stamina, and growth.

I want to give my students flexible seating options, easily-accessible organizational tools and storage, and a colorful, stimulating classroom environment.

I am envisioning my classroom seating as small desk groups, with each group having a rolling storage cart for easy access to their supplies and books. I'd also like to have a reading nook in the back of my room, in which there will be flexible seating options and a soft rug; the reading nook will also double as a place where my students can take a moment if they're having a rough day or work through a disagreement with a friend.
