Help my students regain the focus and rebuild social skills lost to technology.
Technology is great. The world's knowledge is right at our fingertips. We can learn skills that will prepare us for future careers and network with people all over the world. The struggle I have seen in my classroom with students of all ages is the loss of interpersonal skills is devastating. We are 1 to 1 with technology in our school but students struggle to hold an in person conversation with even their best friends. The increase of even "online dating" with my seventh and eighth graders is frightening.
It is my hope by reintroducing my students to board games and getting them off electronic devices they will be better equipped with interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to one another.
