Help My “Covid Babies” Learn Social and Emotional Health
Help me give my students the tools they need to develop socially and emotionally. Many of my 22 “Covid Babies” are delayed socially and interpersonally due to isolation during their early years of life.
Most of my students cannot remember life before Covid. Only half of my students attended preschool or Pre-Kindergarten, most likely because the threat of Covid made families choose to keep their children home. Because half my class attended Pre-K and half did not, there is a broad disparity of learning levels and abilities.
Fortunately, from what we now understand of the human brain and neuroplasticity , these students still have a great chance to develop into well adjusted members of society and future leaders in our community.
I am gathering tools and supplies to provide enriching learning experiences for my current class and the students I will have in the future. I hope to provide a wide range of hands on learning experiences to best accommodate and instruct the different levels and abilities my students have. The Social-Emotional Classroom Activity Kit and other resources I’m requesting will help me differentiate the learning experience and bridge some of the social, emotional and interpersonal gaps that were created when these children were isolated during some of their most formative years.
More than half of students from low‑income households
