Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is very small, but diverse. We not only have many regular education classes, but also have 5 Special Education classes. Many of my students are from low, socioeconomic backgrounds. Our school is a Title I school. 75% of our students receive free and reduced price lunch.

I am a Transitional Kindergarten teacher. Transitional Kindergarten is a Pre-K program in California that allows 4 year old students (who are now 5), who didn't make the Kindergarten cut-off date, to attend a free Pre-school program. My students are so excited about learning! It brings a smile to my face to say that my 5 year old babies are as passionate about playing as much as they are about learning. It is my goal to make sure my Transitional Kindergarten students are provided interesting, exciting experiences that will allow them to learn while having fun.
My Project
Transitional Kindergarten science is so interesting and amazing. The kids get do a lot of hands on exploration and discovery. They get to play with science, talk about science, and love science.
My children are so inquisitive.
It is so important that they see, touch, experience science around them. I would love to be able to have potting soil, clay pots, a Sprout and grow window, a ladybug growing kit, and a butterfly growing kit so that my babies can experience, observe, talk about and explore the life cycle different ways. I would love to provide them the experience of having them plant flowers and watching them grow. I would love for them to be able to observe caterpillars grow through the different stages of life from caterpillar to becoming a butterfly, as well as watching larvae go through the pupa stage and then hatch into ladybugs. I can't wait to see the look in their eyes when they discover the wonder of life.
