it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a Speech/Language therapist at a Title One school with a large bilingual population, we have over 6 different home languages spoken by our families. During our therapy sessions, this Pocket Talk Translator will give my students a voice to effectively communicate their wants and needs and to be able to access the curriculum in order to be successful. In addition, it will help peers with different home languages speak to each other in order to facilitate peer to peer relationships.
Having the Pocket Talk Translators for Speech/Language Therapy sessions in small groups will facilitate smoother transitions during small group activities and allows students less wait time which translates to more time on task.
The students on my caseload are delayed in their first language and also struggle as they are learning English which puts them at a disadvantage.
