My Students
My K-3rd grade students attend our charter school in the financial and academic district of Camden, New Jersey. Our school focuses on personal excellence in education and our students are a mirror of these principals. Our students are wonderful kids who love learning, creating and developing.
Most of my students come from homes without computers and limited or no internet access.
This fact, creates a sense of urgency, as a teacher, to provide the students with as many technological experiences possible.
My Project
My wonderful students are learning technology on 12-year-old Desktops with Word 2007 right now. It is very challenging to teach them new technology ideas with outdated hardware. These Desktops don’t take updates any longer and my students are missing out on Coding experiences, a current Word processing program and even parts of educational websites that require updated flash players. I see all K-3 students one time per week. My kids learn how to use technology in my class. Having updated and new computers will give my students every needed technology opportunity. Learning on current hardware is optimal for them!
