My students are resilient learners with unique sensory and learning needs who benefit from clearly defined workspaces and visual supports. They come to school each day excited to greet their peers and work on their communication skills. My classroom supports amazing middle school students who overcome amazing obstacles.
My Project
Each of my students has unique sensory needs that can affect their ability to regulate their emotions, focus, and even their ability to communicate. Sometimes they need to use sensory items to calm down such as weighted lab pads, deep pressure input rollers, and sensory sacks. Sometimes they need sensory items to help them evert excess energy is they can focus such as wiggle cushions, and bouncy bands. Visual timers help them transition between sensory and academic activities as needed.
Sensory supports have a profound effect on my student's ability to focus, communicate, and make progress.
Please help my classroom have access to a variety of sensory tools so that my students can have access to all the sensory tools they need whether it be to soothe them or engage them.
