Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every day, regardless of the challenges in their lives, my students work relentlessly hard to become conscious and justice-oriented individuals. They use their skills to eliminate the various systems of oppression that keep them and their families from achieving their full potential.
My class is a group of passionate, funny, freedom-fighting and inquisitive kids who want to use their knowledge to improve the City of Richmond.
Our students' daily lives are full of adversity. At our school, one hundred percent of students qualify and receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of our students face many challenges at home; however, this does not get in the way of their success. Instead, they remain perseverant and continue to strive and achieve excellence.
My Project
I work relentlessly hard to provide my students with the type of education that will expand their life opportunities. On average, I work 10+ hours every day. No matter how hard I work, though, I feel like I do not get enough done. After one of my self-reflection sessions, I realized that on most days I complete all of my B and C tasks but rarely do I complete my A rated tasks. In other words, throughout my day I am mainly completing my small tasks and neglecting my more important ones. This needs to change! For this reasons I am requesting books that will help me brush up on my productivity and organizing skills. As a teacher, I understand that hard work alone is not enough. I must also learn to work smart. I selected books that focus on research-based strategies that improve productivity levels.
Becoming more productive with my time will help me focus less on the small things and more on the big ones.
