This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in great need of iPads in the classroom. I want to show my students how to apply digital skills to enhance, innovate, and create original work,as well as, analyze the world they live in. Our class is missing technology to teach 21 century skills. My passion and education is STEM PBL.
I teach 8th physical science in a low-socioeconomic community consisting of 100% underrepresented minorities in Inglewood,CA.
My classroom lacks student technology. I am extremely passionate and well educated in digital literacy and STEM project based learning. Everyday I walk in the classroom, I know what student life could be like by using technology. My passion is to prepare and inspire all my students to become passionate about STEM through engaging projects. I know by getting a group set of iPads I could deepened engagement and actually teach students how technology transforms learning.
My Project
During my science lesson on changing phases of matter I would like to enhance my energy transfer project by having each group analyze the loss of heat. I can do this by using the thermal heat sensor app. iPads will allow my students to video document their engineering project and create quick Google Presentations. This process will reduce much waisted time and incomplete work I often have with my students. My students will also be able input and share their results via Google forms and analyze the result on spreadsheets projected on the screen for the entire class to view. This immediate feedback is a remarkable tool to support student engagement.
Having my students interact with daily technology will advance their digital literacy skills.
My goal is for these students to advocate for a change technology perspective, technology is just as necessary as pens and paper. Please help me in STEM impacting these students lives by adding technology to my class.
