My Students

"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." -Benjamin Franklin. This quote is a perfect way to describe a typical day in my classroom. Children learn in different ways. I strive to incorporate a variety of learning strategies to ensure each child's success.

My students are bright, ambitious and eager learners.

I have been extremely fortunate to have been given the opportunity to teach Special Education at an extremely poor Title I school in the city of Chicago. Even though it has become extremely difficult and sometimes frustrating to educate without needed supplies, our students still come to school eager to learn. Our school rarely has extra funding for enriching material, and if they do, the funds are used for older students. Many of my students' families will never have additional money to purchase educational materials. Therefore, I hope to be able to provide a fun and interesting way of learning so my students can succeed in life.

My Project

In order for my students to be successful, they need to know how to express themselves verbally and acquire comprehensive reading skills. This school year, our school has been looking for a new proper and dynamic phonics curriculum. We are currently piloting a new program called Head Sprout. Head Sprout is only compatible on computers, therefore I am asking for a computer for my students to reach the fullest potential of the program. I am positive that once my students engage in the pilot program of Head Sprout, they will properly develop the foundational skills they need to become successful readers.

By donating this computer to our classroom, my students will have the opportunity to reach their fullest potential.

They will leave school everyday feeling proud about what they have accomplished and excited for their future. My goal as a teacher is to involve my students in the best way possible in the learning process. Given this computer, I know my goal will be attainable. Please help my students realize their potential by giving them the tools they need to be successful!
