What makes my classroom special? This question is simple, deep and layered all at the same time. My students often come from households and circumstances that are poverty-stricken, neglectful and lacking in the basic needs of food, shelter, clothing, and love.
However, my students are resilient and once I got past the hard exterior of what life has exposed them to at such an early age and built a relationship with them; they desire to learn, overcome and succeed well beyond their circumstances.
Therein lies my mission: To learn new, engaging, and effective ways to teach them by obtaining the training, techniques, and tools to make my classroom a safe, fun and student-centered place to facilitate their growth.
Your support with helping me to get the training with Tynker will equip me to effectively educate my students to BE MORE and to ACCOMPLISH MORE with STEM pedagogy. My students are going to be the future change agents in our society and their training will start in our classroom.
I am super excited about this training and thank you in advance for your assistance with this campaign!
I am a second-grade teacher in a Title 1 school, in the most highly incarcerated zip code in the United States; which is 53206. My students are coming from very impoverished households and have experienced more in their 7-8 years on this earth than what many will experience in a lifetime.
Even though the odds are stacked against them, they deserve to have a chance at success too; and teaching them Tynker at an early age will help them to gain exposure to STEM and motivate them to excel in every subject.
With your support, I will be able to attend this training so that I can design a cool, engaging and student-centered STEM curriculum for my class this upcoming year.
Can you imagine our students designing and building drones, programming LEGO's and coding? I certainly can, and Tynker and your support of this campaign will help to make it a reality.
Thank you in advance for your generosity!
