Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

This course will equip me with invaluable tools to support student success by implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). PBIS is an evidence-based framework designed to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment by teaching students essential competencies in social, emotional, and behavioral self-management.

By undertaking this course, I will gain a deep understanding of PBIS components, enabling them to effectively apply strategies for behavior management in diverse classroom settings.

I will learn to establish clear expectations, reinforce positive behaviors, and address challenging behaviors proactively. This proactive approach helps create a supportive and structured learning environment conducive to academic achievement and social-emotional development.

Furthermore, I will learn how to tailor PBIS principles to meet the unique needs of their students, ensuring equitable access to learning opportunities for all. They acquire skills to differentiate instruction, provide individualized support, and cultivate a sense of belonging and community within the classroom.

Through the implementation of PBIS strategies, I can effectively address behavioral issues while promoting self-regulation and self-esteem among students. By fostering a positive and predictable classroom environment, educators can maximize instructional time, minimize disruptions, and enhance overall student engagement and achievement.

Ultimately, the Principles and Practices of Classroom Management course will empower me to create nurturing and inclusive learning environments where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
