This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a high school counselor in the Bronx, New York, many of my students' parents/guardians only speak Spanish. In order to better communicate with them to help support their child in high school, my goal is to strengthen my overall Spanish proficienty skills so I can speak more effectively and accurately with my Spanish speaking families. As a low intermediate Spanish speaker, the Spanishland online course will help me greatly improve my overall Spanish speaking and listening skills. By taking weekly live classes along with working 1:1 with a tutor, I will take this professional development opportunity seriously in order to better improve my overall Spanish proficiency skills. I am a high school counselor who is dedicated to meeting the needs of all my students and families, and I thank you in advance for this opportunity to better communicate with my students and families in Spanish.
