I am incredibly fortunate to have students who each embrace science fair projects, courageously apply themselves in lab dissections, and enjoy the hands-on (sometimes dirty) approach to science. Many of my students lack technology at home and benefit from our school by being able to use our devices and tools and learn the skills with us! The tech skills that we teach our students will make them competitive in their future academics and workplace.
Our school is a Technology Charter school and students benefit from the use of technology in their core classes as well as specialized classes that are focused on preparing them for the 21st century technology enhanced world.
There are so many FREE resources popping up through Google Expeditions and Youtube that offer immersive 3D experiences. Teaching science is far more effective when I can actually take them to the places I teach about or show them how cycles interact through VR!
I can't wait (with your help) to be able to show students a 360 degree view of an erupting volcano in Russia and a virtual tour of our solar system to size and scale!
The saying goes that "a picture can speak a thousand words". So, imagine how a 360 degree combination of pictures could deliver hundreds of thousands.
My students need VR Headsets to visualize 3D topics such as space and landforms. Help me VIRTUALLY take them places with these tools and inspire our next generation of scientists!
