Help Me Refresh My Library

Help me give my students interesting and recent books that help bridge them from picture books to chapter books. The Scholastic Branches series of books have color pictures, interesting topics for boys and girls, and chapters.

My Project

I am teaching all third grade ELA this year. My library needs a refresh. Students today need a bridge from picture books over to chapter books, and the Scholastic Branches series does just that. They include bright pictures, interesting topics, and short chapters so students feel successful in reading a chapter book.

My goal would be to donate books in my current library to a local library or outreach center (some are more than 20 years old) and refresh my library with books that entice early chapter book readers to hopefully introduce a love of reading through successful competition of a chapter book.

Many of my students come from literacy poor households where there are little to no books, so brand new books would be exciting to them.
