Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work with several different small groups of eager learners from 1st-4th grade. Though these students are eager to learn and come motivated to work through obstacles in reading, they are below reading level and need small group support.

My students come from a city with a high poverty rate and unfortunately do not have resources at home in order to help them achieve their reading goals.

My school is able to offer extra support for these students, but we do not have the funds necessary to purchase resources that would help improve their reading ability.

My Project

Having reading resources will help set a foundation of reading skills necessary to become a fluent, confident reader. Students light up and quickly become more engaged when they are immersed in activities that are fun and at their level!

Reading comprehension games make an ordinarily boring lesson fun and exciting!

The students will be able to participate in these activities during small group time, and hopefully build their level of comprehension! They will use the sight word game to help increase sight word identification in order to allow them to become more fluent readers. I am confident that having these resources will enable my young learners to succeed! Reading is the key to success!
