My Project

I am looking to purchases a Health and Wellness curriculum for my grade 9 students. Health and wellness, including social emotional support, has become a critical part of education. More and more resources are needed to meet the needs of students, however district budgets do not allow for those necessary resources to be purchased.

My current position as a science teacher is transitioning over to a health and wellness teacher.

As someone who has been a science teacher for 20 years and is being forced into this new role, it is daunting to think about creating an entirely new curriculum in an area where one doesn't currently exist. There are no modern textbooks that meet the new standards within my district, and there are no curriculum materials to be utilized.

The website Teachers Pay Teachers offers many curriculum resources that would allow someone like myself to run a strong class, despite no experience in this field. It is a much more cost effective option then purchasing new textbooks for all students. It is also a more engaging option. Massachusetts is adopting new standards, starting next year. Purchasing these curriculum materials would be a cost effective and practical way to help transition to these new standards.

Mr. Waggenheim will only receive his materials if this project is fully funded by August 24.
