Help Me Provide Inclusive, Differentiated Distance Learning

Help me give my students a more hands-on, INCLUSIVE, enriched, differentiated and customized distance learning experience with a printer and ink cartridges.

My Students

I believe in teaching current events to my students, so my class started paying close attention to the Covid-19 story the first week we returned from winter break in early January. Consequently, we feel as though we‘ve watched as the virus made its way from Wuhan, across the globe and all the way to our front doorstep here in Utah. Nevertheless, as a group we were jolted and shocked when we were forced to transition from traditional school to online learning in just 24 hours, and with little to no resources.

The class now illustrates a prominent divide amid my class: about half of my students transitioned without issue, while the other half was left behind.

Whether the cause was due to being overwhelmed or a lack of understanding, once a student starts to fall behind, they find themselves on a slippery slope. After only a couple of weeks, those students are now facing the dubious challenge of trying to catch up on dozens of assignments, without the skill set to do so online.

My Project

Every kid has a unique learning style, and my role as an educator is to account for those learner variabilities and accommodate for them as best I can. When it comes to online learning, these variabilities are emphasized, particularly with regard to educational technology.

In an effort to provide my students with everything they need to be actively involved in their education from home, I need resources to help me create the materials required to do just that.

Paramount to my needs: printing capabilities. Printing packets and source material for my students from home would be a game-changer. If I can put hard copies into the hands of my students who are struggling with online learning, it would bring those kids back into the fold, and return my classroom to its more inclusive roots.

Not only would I have the instant benefit of customization with regard to my lessons and materials, I would also be providing an enriched, hands-on tool to my students who will benefit from having another option for completing their work. Having a printer would indirectly provide a way for the struggling students to get caught up on their missing work, while at the same time enhancing my instruction across the board since I would also be able to create reference material and accompanying texts to compliment what I distribute online.

Please help me to realize this dream so I may provide my students with an inclusive education and an enriched distance learning experience, TODAY.
