My Project

Our school has a new no-cell phone in instructional spaces policy, which the kids are adjusting to this year. I want to help foster social interaction, social emotional well-being, and library fun by providing sensory fidget toys, stress balls, and tech-free interactive games that helps foster our students' success in staying phone-free.

As a librarian, one of the most important things to me is maintaining a safe space where all students feel welcome, at peace, and supported, whether academically or emotionally.

Throughout the years, I have been building a collection of games that kids can play during lunch or before or after school. Our kids love the games and have been requesting more. It is clearly keeping them off of their cell phones and building their social skills. This began happening before the no cell phone policy went into effect.

Not only will every student in the high school be able to access these materials, but everyone in the community as well. The library is often used for community events and administration often borrows our games to use for open houses, game nights, etc. Their impact will last for years, as these classic games don't lose relevance. The more inviting our library becomes, the more lives we can impact.
