This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are located in the heart of a large, urban neighborhood. The majority of students are of Hispanic ethnicity (74.0%) and also classify within a high poverty rate (79.9%). The poverty rate is the concentration of students enrolled at the school who qualify for the federal Free and Reduced Price Meals Program.

The students in my science classes are all energetic, curious and excited about new learning experiences.

In addition to their academic studies, many of the students participate in extracurricular activities such as singing, acting, sports teams, leadership and cheerleading. Many of the students are particularly interested in the entertainment field, as one of our school magnets focuses on the performing arts.

As a teacher to approximately 180 students, I am constantly in need of printing out worksheets and handouts on a daily basis. Hence, my printer cartridges and a paper supply need to be replenished often. Furthermore, I would like to purchase several manipulatives on Newton's laws which I could use as classroom demonstrations to my Physics students.
