This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Kids in the City are used to being indoors and not having many opportunities to get exercise. I want to expose my students to a variety of physical activities.
My students are well behaved children from low-income families.
Most of my students do not have the funds to be involved in outside physical activities. This means that their only opportunity for exercise is during my Physical Education class. I want to provide my students with not only the chance to participate in physical activity, also the knowledge and skills to practice fitness outside the school day.
My Project
My students need basketballs, foam footballs, bowling pins and a bowling ball as well as cones for boundaries. This equipment will expand my sports unit by providing my students a variety of new activities to learn and participate in.
These resources will be used by at least 600 students this year and thousand more to come. This equipment will help give my students the tools needed to not only participate in physical activities but to be able to understand how to participate in certain activities outside the school day. I want my students to leave my program with the knowledge they need in order to be confident to participate in sports.
The problem that my students and I are facing is the lack of key P.E.
equipment. My student's love to move and look forward to my physical education class, however, I feel that if my program had more variety, my students will be able to find that favorite physical activity that will keep them moving for a lifetime.
