Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Every student is one caring adult away from being a success story" is a belief that inspires me and influences all of my interactions with my students. I firmly believe that every student is capable of being successful in school, so long as they are given the right tools and support.
My students are inquisitive, focused, and excited to face mathematical challenges.
Finding ways to challenge and engage all of my students at their individual level is my top priority in my classroom.
At my school over 65% are on our free or reduced lunch program and we have a large population of students who are English learners. These background factors impact my students academically and yet they still come to class determined to succeed, which leads to a strong classroom culture of perseverance and grit.
My Project
Math has not been most students' favorite subject, but when they come into my classroom that's my goal. Working hard to get students engaged and excited about math is my passion and I love getting the see the gleam in students' eyes once they understand something!
Without air conditioning, students have a hard time focusing on the activities and math tasks in front of them.
The extreme heat students face in the classroom adds another unnecessary layer of struggle to the students' learning.
Any donation towards the purchase of a portable air conditioner for our classroom will go a long way to make students more comfortable during class and help them focus on their math learning. Thank you so much in advance!
