My students need Algebra Tiles, one Visual Learning Guide, assorted Self-Inking Stamps, Real Word Math Games, Head Full of Numbers Game, Beginning Algebra book.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Nguyen's classroom raised $447
This project is fully funded
My Students
By the end of the school year, I hope to have cultivated a safe learning environment for students to have a strong understanding of the Algebra standards. I also want to show them the importance of math to generate more interest.
My students are part of the Special Needs Program.
They are hard-working, avid learners who are trying their best to understand and learn the mathematical concepts presented to them. They go to a school that is very supportive and encourages learning. Our virtue is "We are life long learners. We are leaders in training. Do not be part of the problem. Be part of the solution. Failure is not an option. Respect is a sign of strength. Discipline yourself so no one else has to. Stay calm at all times. If you have a goal, nothing is impossible. We come from greatness."
My Project
Using the Algebra Tiles will help the students gain a more in-depth understanding of the concepts and visualize the way these concepts work. The tiles allow the students to work through problems that would otherwise be abstract.
The Real Word Math Game and Head Full of Numbers Game will tie the math concepts they're learning to real-world aspects and present the material in a way that will make them excited to learn. They will also provide opportunities to use algebra and math in ways that are less abstract than from the textbooks.
The stamps will motivate students to turn their homework in and do well on their homework. The Visual Learning Guide and Beginning Algebra book will provide math lessons and activities.
To most people math seems to be arbitrary and unnecessary.
Receiving these math tools will help me show these students that math is something that we use in everyday life and can be very interesting. These games and manipulatives may also make learning more motivating to my students.
