Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school serves low income families in Chicago where the majority of students are Hispanic. I have an inclusive preschool classroom which consists of 6 diverse learner students and 11 general education students. Out of the 17 current students, there are 6 that are so close to mastering their alphabet skills and ready for sight words to begin their learn to read journey.

My Project

The sight word journals will help the students practice writing and identifying sight words as we are learning them. The magnetic boards and lowercase letters will help them practice building the sight words. The reading books will help my students practice reading. The students will also use sight words being learned through our small group activities during e-learning.

The materials will enhance their sight words learning at home to help them begin reading.

By learning their sight words, these students will be ready to read as soon as they enter Kindergarten.
