Help me give my students books for our classroom library and the necessary materials to create the warm and welcoming classroom that I know we can have.
My fourth graders are eager students who are excited about school and they want to continue their learning skills. Our school is a Title 1 school with over 650 students attending it. As a Title 1 school, there is not enough money in our budget for many additional materials for the classroom. Many teachers end up using their own personal money to purchase these items. Many of our students have experienced trauma in their lives, for some school is the only normal they know.
My Project
I would like to purchase for my class books that are at my students reading level, help foster their learning and to get my students excited about reading. Coming from being a first grade teacher, I really need to build up my intermediate classroom library. The district provides money for textbooks, but does not supply funds for additional reading material.
Additionally, I would like to provide my students with flexible seating options to give them a sense of calm and reassurance.
The wobble seats and yoga ball allow them to choose a type of learning that is best for them and provides them with a sense of community (not having a specific "my desk" or "my area"). My students and I thank you so much for your consideration.
