My Project

I teach a course for high school Juniors and Seniors to become a certified nurse aide. My students enroll in an adult level course and meet many difficult milestones to have the opportunity to become a certified nurse aide with the Virginia Board of Nursing.

These high school students from six different local high schools are so eager to learn, demonstrate and provide high quality care to one of the most vulnerable populations in healthcare.

Having manipulatives in the classroom such as modeling clay and a dry erase board for students to map out body processes and add visual

connections. Modeling clay provides students the ability to create anatomical models to further their understanding of holistic care of the human body.

The ability to provide students multiple learning style opportunities such as kinesthetic learning will provide the best opportunity for students to become the most high quality healthcare providers and increase their knowledge base for future endeavors in healthcare.
