My Project
Hello, I am a preschool teacher and often we have many personalities trying to know one another. It can be difficult to regulate your emotions as an adult and being able to regulate them as a child I can only imagine the feelings their little bodies endure.
My goal for this project is to get tools in my classroom that are easily accessible to my students to help meet their individual needs and hope that they can learn to regulate their emotions on their own while still having love and understanding from their teachers.
All parts of our brain need stimulation whether it be out vestibular, proprioceptive, tactile or interception. All parts of the brain need ways to help it regulate. This could be a simple snack, pressure out on the body, visual cues and so forth. The items I am asking for reach these goals and my goal as their teacher is to help them develop ways to self-regulate and walk alongside them to help them develop safely.
It is a true honor to work with these kids every day and help them become such amazing human beings. We always try to see the need and meet the need. This may seem like toys or unneeded items but unless we are regulated, we aren't our best self. See the need meet the need is the motto our kids go by in class. They are hoping to have this need met. These students deserve this because they are amazing! I will not only use these for students this year but for students in the future as well! What a legacy to pass on showing that we all have big emotions, we all get over stimulated, but we ALL are amazing and have the tools to regulate!
